About Sharing Content & Referrals.

Ayurveda continues to become more and more popular with those who have a passion for wellness. It's important to know what options your certification gives you. Once you graduate from Joyful Belly School of Ayurveda you will receive your diploma and be able to see clients. However the regulations and scope of practice will differ depending on where you are located. Joyful Belly students enroll in our courses from all over the world and United States.

Within the USA, the practice of Ayurveda is legal and unregulated in all 50 states but it must be practiced in accordance with the laws of each state. Graduates are encouraged to get to know the legal scope of their practice in their particular state.

International licensing regulations will vary from country-to-country. Graduates should familiarize themselves with the legal boundaries of their certification so that they can practice safely and legally. For example, in some states practitioners cannot take the pulse of a client unless they have a license to touch.

Joyful Belly's School of Ayurveda does not provide a license to practice medicine. Only a medical doctor has a license to practice medicine. Ayurveda counselors are educators in the eyes of the law. Only a licensed medical doctor can diagnose or treat medical diseases. As an Ayurveda practitioner, you will educate clients in the traditional use of Ayurveda for various imbalances, and rebalancing vital energies.

A certificate of completion is given to those graduates who successfully complete our programs. Without any additional testing or certification, you can legally see clients once you graduate from the AHC or MID program. As Joyful Belly is a state college, no further credentials are needed to practice.

The Joyful Belly School of Ayurveda is unique among schools in that it provides all graduates with a free online clinic, and includes extensive training in business development.

About John Joseph Immel

About the Author

John Immel, the founder of Joyful Belly, teaches people how to have a healthy diet and lifestyle with Ayurveda biocharacteristics. His approach to Ayurveda is clinical, yet exudes an ease which many find enjoyable and insightful. John also directs Joyful Belly's School of Ayurveda, offering professional clinical training in Ayurveda for over 15 years.

John's interest in Ayurveda and specialization in digestive tract pathology was inspired by a complex digestive disorder acquired from years of international travel, as well as public service work in South Asia. John's commitment to the detailed study of digestive disorders reflects his zeal to get down to the roots of the problem. His hope and belief in the capacity of each & every client to improve their quality of life is nothing short of a personal passion. John's creativity in the kitchen and delight in cooking for others comes from his family oriented upbringing. In addition to his certification in Ayurveda, John holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Harvard University.

John enjoys sharing Ayurveda within the context of his Catholic roots, and finds Ayurveda gives him an opportunity to participate in the healing mission of the Church. Jesus expressed God's love by feeding and healing the sick. That kindness is the fundamental ministry of Ayurveda as well. Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his wife and 7 kids, and pursuing his love of theology, philosophy, and language.
