Mila's Point of View

How were you introduced to Ayurveda?

Like many westerners who strive for balance and stability in their lives, I just wanted to learn more. My curiosity and and affinity for the natural healing arts eventually led me to the realm of Ayurveda. In the beginning, the word (Ayurveda) was but a mere whisper. However, those faint whispers carried seeds of wisdom that would soon flourish into a traditional academic experience of a lifetime at Southern California University of Health Sciences. As I continue my studies in Ayurveda, I now know that there are no limits to my passion and love for Ayurveda.

When are you most likely to go out of balance and how do you bring yourself back in balance using Ayurveda?

When I go out of balance, it is because of hot weather and overexertion. Taking a step back to meditate, having tulsi and brahmi tea with rose, and a little bit of Naysa help keep me on the right path. I also keep a notebook which helps me to reflect on my behavior and reasoning anytime I feel that there is an adjustment needed.

What does the future of Ayurveda look like to you?

To me, the future of Ayurveda looks and feels like a renaissance of the most tried and true system of healing to ever exist. I believe that we are standing in a moment of history where through Ayurveda, we will witness great healing.

What's one Ayurvedic practice anyone can implement to spur change in their life, right here, right now?

Right here and now, anyone can take the time to assess their current daily schedule and make adjustments for overall improvement in the quality of their lives! From your own personal assessment, you will gain insight on where to implement change. This is the most important step because you will be able to see where to add reasonable options and make adjustments. While you are taking detailed notes on your current schedule, it would be a good time to make yourself a warm mug of lemon water and sip throughout your assessment.
