I read in other texts that mung beans are Tri doshic and okay for Vata. Here on your website it says mung beans are Vata aggravating and then it says : "Ayurveda recommends shelled mungs beans in general for cleansing, because they are easier to digest for most Vata constitutions."
That sounds a little contradicting to me. Can you please explain this?
The shelled or "split" mung beans are good for cleansing and generally easy for Vata to digest. They should be soaked in water overnight and then rinsed and drained before cooking. Spices like hing enhance their digestibility - especially for Vata types. Whole mung beans are more challenging to digest and not recommended for Vata types.
